Constance Halaveli, Maldives

Kick your shoes off and step inside the fabulous escape that is Constance Halaveli. Situated in the North Ari Atoll, surrounded by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, this classic Maldivian resort is built upon an island of coconut palms, latticed sandy lanes, and one long overwater jetty – Villa 90 is right at the end of the jetty and makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. There’s a gorgeous pool overlooking the ocean, sunloungers dotted in the shade, a spa, three restaurants, and two wine cellars with over 1000 bottles of wine to choose from. Cheers!

Kamalaya, Koh SamuiKamalaya, Koh Samui

We know exactly what you’re looking for from your mini break– sleep! And Kamalaya is the place to do it. This one-stop destination spa comes with a heavy spiritual slant as they tailor specific programs for those wanting to chill, de-stress, recover from illness and clear their minds. Built on the site of a Buddhist’s monk cave, the vibe is super serene and the tropical hillside setting immediately reconnects you with nature. Rooms are airy and rustic with big outdoor bathtubs and – of course – fabulous beds. Two restaurants offer healthy food, and there are swimming pools, plunge pools, and a fitness centre. Your kids won’t believe the new energised you upon your return!

Amanpulo, Phillippines

The romantically remote island of Pamalican caters for couples who want to laze their days away, but like a little activity on the side. The epitome of rustic chic, Amanpulo has 40 casitas, designed as modern versions of a traditional Filipino house, with wooden floors, rattan furniture and subtle interiors. When you’re not making the most of the four dining options and gym, you can try the likes of hiking, kayaking, tennis and windsurfing. Or you could just lie horizontally under a shady palm tree with no interruptions whatsoever.

COMO Shambhala Estate, Bali

Warning: as much as you love your children, if you visit Como Shambhala, there’s a high chance that you won’t want to leave. This beautiful property oozes luxury, serenity and taste, as you immerse yourself in totally tropical, thatched-pavilion, wall-to-wall luxury. Rooms come with stripped decking, pared-back decor, colonial beds and exposed teak galore. Treat yourselves to a Retreat Villa which boasts a private swimming pool and alfresco showers on the decking. If you can bear to leave your surrounds, make sure it’s to visit the exceptional spa, including floating treatment rooms, poolside yoga bale, and climbing wall.

Upper House Hong Kong

For a speedy stay where your children won’t find you, make Upper House Hong Kong your hideaway. Poised on top of Pacific Place, upon arrival it feels like you’re being transported into a secret world. Guests glide in via an escalator, then a lift, into an enclave of wood, glass and limestone. And once inside, it’s big: at 730 sq.ft, rooms are some of the largest in the city and at such a height they offer awesome views. There’s one restaurant, an all-day Sky Lounge, and The Lawn on the 6th floor for alfresco cocktails. There’s no pool, no spa, and only a tiny gym, so you have to head out for additional entertainment, but when immersed within such luxury, we won’t judge you if you’d rather stay put.
