There’s a quote from Georgina Chapman that we love. She said: “Everyone is successful in their own right, whether it be as a mother, whether it be your career. I think we have great tasks ahead of us as women and we have to juggle many different things. It doesn’t always have to be career-related. It can be success in personal life, too.”
The celebrated designer has definitely come a long way. From dying her own fabrics with partner Keren Craig when they were starting out, to dressing A-listers and Hollywood royalty, managing an ever-growing business and balancing all that with spending time with her family — husband and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, and their two children. We’d say Georgina is more than fit to be our mum crush of the week.
Her dresses are known for their fusion of exquisite detailing and supreme femininity, and to us, Georgina is the perfect embodiment of what her dresses are known for. Always impeccably dressed, the statuesque beauty wouldn’t look out of place in a room full of models.
Georgina or George (as Keren calls her) can often be seen wearing her own designs on nights out at parties. This just goes to show how much she believes in her brand!
The wonder woman is recognised as one of Hollywood’s most philanthropic and inspirational women, especially for her part in Marchesa’s partnership with charity Magic Bus. According to Georgina, the partnership was a way for her to impact the embroidery communities that have played a part in building Marchesa into what it is today. What a wonderful way to give back!
As a mum, Georgina is extremely close to her two children — India, seven, and Dashiell, four.
She often has pictures of them with her at work, such as this one of India walking her out before the Oscars. Her kids seem very down-to-earth despite who their parents are, and we think that’s just a testament to the kind of mum she is.
That wasn’t the only time that little India was seen on set. Well, learning the ropes of the industry early doesn’t hurt.
And she isn’t the only one! Little brother Dash has been spotted helping out as well.
He’s often seen sitting on his mum’s lap while she has her glam squad getting her ready for her big night out.
Of course, there’s always time for travelling and some family fun amid the daily hustle and bustle of running your own business. If there’s anything we can learn from Georgina, it’s that with a little hard work and determination, anything is possible.
