Inspired by a melody that little Hathaway played when she was merely four months old, this Jay Chou song starts with the singer sharing how proud is he of his precious princess. The song touches on his emotions as a first-time dad; how elated he feels when she smiles and how protective he is as her shining knight. The part where he sings about handing her off to her future prince? Very touching.

2. Beyoncé — Blue ft. Blue Ivy

After the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy, Queen Bey penned a song in her 2013 self-titled album to share about the joys of motherhood. She sang passionately about her little sunshine: Each day I feel so blessed to be looking at you / ‘Cause when you open your eyes, I feel alive /My heart beats so damn quick when you say my name / When I’m holding you tight, I’m so alive. The music video also features candid moments of Beyoncé and Blue frolicking on the beach. Super precious!

3. Stevie Wonder — Isn’t She Lovely

To celebrate the birth of his daughter, the music legend wrote a song for his baby girl, Aisha. Its catchy tunes and upbeat notes captures the essence of an excited dad who is thankful for this god-sent gift of a beautiful daughter. This is a classic favourite.

4. Alicia Keys — Speechless

Together with her husband, Swiss Beatz who handled the production, the couple produced a song for their first child, Egypt. The ballad reflects how this new little addition overwhelmed Alicia Keys with so much love: When I wake up in the morning baby/ Can’t believe my eyes/ Sweetest little part of destiny/ Oh yeah/ Cause you are now in my life.

5. Lauryn Hill — To Zion

Described as one of the most memorable contemporary R&B dedications of all time, Lauryn Hill used the song to open up about her decision to have little Zion amid her budding career, despite being encouraged by many others to have an abortion. Included in her five-time Grammy Award winning-album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, this song not only showcased her endless love for her son but also her brilliant song-writing skills. Our Favourite lyrics: How beautiful if nothing more/ Than to wait at Zion’s door/ I’ve never been in love like this before.
